ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is a great maroufle' on panel painting by Dutch artist Cornelis ("Kees") Terlouw, a well-listed artist, born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, 1890; died 1948 at Saint-Maur des Fosses, France. He was noted for his landscapes and cozy interior genre scenes. This painting depicts a Dutch family at the table, in front of the fireplace, with the wife holding a baby, the little boy eating and playing with a kitten, and the father sitting at the table smoking a pipe. It is signed bottom right and comes in a very nice gold frame.
