ITEM DESCRIPTION:  This is an oil on canvas depicting a 19th or early 20th century Dutch coastal scene with a shell fisherman seen in the foreground with sailing ships in the background. The sky is overcast with a rolling sea. Roelandse is a listed Dutch artist born in Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1888.  He was noted for his landscapes, city scenes and portraits, working in impressionist style. He was active the School of Leiden paintings. The painting is signed bottom left.
