ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful oil on canvas painting depicting a 19th/20th century view of the city of Enkhuizen, a very picturesque town in the province of North Holland. It was painted by listed Dutch artist Johannes Cornelis Roelandse,1888-1978. Roelandse lived and worked in Sassenheim, then in Leidordorp, The Netherlands. He was known for his paintings, watercolors, and etchings of landscapes, city scenes, portraits, in impressionist style (i.e., school of The Hague). He exhibited in 1948 at De Lakenhal Museum in Leiden. This painting is signed lower left and is in a gold and brown frame. Please see all photos for details.
