ITEM DESCRIPTION:  This is an oil on canvas depicting a Dutch genre scene of a woman, sitting outside and plucking a chicken. It was beautifully painted and signed by Carl Eugen Mulertt, an artist originally born in Germany, 1869.  He became a naturalized citizen of America after immigrating in 1882 with his mother. He spent the last 16 years of his life in Katwijk, The Netherlands, where he painted many genre scenes, such as this painting, as well as portraits of women and the sea. He died in 1963.  There are many examples of his work that can be found on the internet.  This painting is signed lower right and has a lovely frame.
